The Dynamic Container Network reported on 25 September 2026 that Drewry's World Container Index fell 1% to $4,468 per 40ft container, mainly on Asia-Europe declines. Shanghai to Los Angeles rose 2% to $7,838, Shanghai to New York held at $10,373, Shanghai to Genoa fell 5% to $3,835 and Shanghai to Rotterdam fell 4% to $3,485.

Drewry noted carriers continue to manage capacity through blank sailings, 15 announced for the following week versus nine the week before, and expects rates to decline in the coming week as China's Golden Week holiday begins in early October. Middle East tensions, Red Sea security risks and Panama Canal constraints remain concerns.
